Mandatory use of test report formats as per Food Safety and Standards Rules, 2011 and amendments thereof and Food Safety and Standards (Import) Regulation, 2017 with NABL Symbol

All FSSAI-notified food testing labs, as per sections 43(1) and 43(2) of the FSS Act, 2006, are directed to use the test report formats specified in the Food Safety and Standards (First Amendment) Rules, 2022. For issuing test reports for all surveillance and enforcement samples, labs should issue reports in Form VII A (“Report of the Food Analyst”) and Form XI (“Certificate of Analysis by the Referral Food Laboratory”).

For imported food products, the analysis report should be issued in Form – 2, according to the Food Safety and Standards (Import) Regulation, 2017.

Since these labs are accredited to ISO/IEC 17025:2017, they must include the NABL symbol in their test reports for tests within their accredited scope, following the NABL 133 guidelines (“Policy for Use of NABL Symbol and/or Claim of Accreditation”).
