The Cigarettes and other Tobacco Products (Packaging and Labelling) Amendment Rules, 2024 introduces amendments to the Cigarettes and Tobacco Products (Packaging and Labelling) Rules, 2008. These include a change to the health warnings on tobacco products, mandating a new textual health warning “TOBACCO CAUSES PAINFUL DEATH” and a helpline number. The new rules will come into effect from June 1, 2025, with updated health warnings and images, and the existing warnings will remain valid until amended.
