Amendments to the First and Second Schedules of the Drugs and Cosmetics Act

The Central Government has amended the Drugs and Cosmetics Act, 1940 as follows:
First Schedule: Added authoritative books for:
1. Homoeopathic System: 20 recognized texts on Materia Medica, Nosodes, and Pharmacodynamics.
2. Sowa-Rigpa System: 34 authoritative texts (names provided in transliterated form, with originals considered authentic).
Second Schedule: For ‘Class of Drugs’ (4A), recognized standards now include:
1. French Homoeopathic Pharmacopoeia
2. European Pharmacopoeia, alongside the existing German Homoeopathic Pharmacopoeia.
These changes enhance the regulatory framework for Homoeopathic and Sowa-Rigpa systems.
