Stage-IV GRAP Measures Implemented in Delhi-NCR as AQI Crosses 400

The Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) has invoked Stage-IV (‘Severe+’ Air Quality) measures under the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP) in Delhi-NCR following directives from the Supreme Court of India.
Supreme Court Directions:
Stage-III measures must be implemented if the AQI exceeds 350.
Stage-IV measures must be implemented if the AQI crosses 400.
Air Quality Deterioration:
Delhi’s AQI breached the 400 mark, recorded at 401 due to unfavorable meteorological conditions, including a reduction in the mixing layer height and calm wind conditions.
Stage-IV Actions:
The Sub Committee hereby invokes the Stage-IV of the Schedule under the GRAP, as comprehensively revised and issued on 13.12.2024, with immediate effect, Stage-IV measures are introduced, in addition to the existing actions under Stages III, II, and I, to address the severe air quality crisis.
This action aims to mitigate worsening air pollution and is in line with the Hon’ble Supreme Court’s directives.
