IFSCA Cautions the Public on Phishing Attempts Impersonating IFSCA Employees

Act Name/Rule Name: International Financial Services Centres Authority Act, 2019

Type of Document: Press Release

Date: January 2025

The International Financial Services Centres Authority (IFSCA) has identified fraudulent phishing attempts targeting individuals and entities by impersonating its senior management. These emails, often appearing legitimate, are sent from unauthorized email domains and aim to deceive recipients into providing sensitive information.

IFSCA has clarified that all official communications are exclusively conducted via the email domain @ifsca.gov.in. Emails originating from other domains and claiming to represent IFSCA should be treated with suspicion and disregarded. The public is advised to verify the authenticity of any email, especially those requesting personal or financial details, and report suspicious activity to the appropriate channels.

This advisory raises public awareness about cyber threats targeting financial communication channels, emphasizing the importance of vigilance and secure verification practices to prevent phishing attacks.
