The Infrastructure Development Committee (IDC) identified operational challenges in refunding amounts for surrendered or cancelled plots under Rule 18(g) of the RIICO Disposal of Land Rules, 1979. To streamline this process, a partial amendment was proposed and approved.
Rule | Existing Rule | Partial Amendment |
18 (g) (ii) (b) | If RIICO had to refund money and the refund was made through cheque:
| If RIICO doesn’t have the recipient’s bank details, the Unit Head is now authorised to issue the refund cheque. 1. The cheque will still be sent via Registered Post or Speed Post. 2. Regardless of whether the cheque is cashed or returned, the refund will still be considered valid and complete. |
This amendment simplifies the refund process by delegating authority to Unit Heads and eliminating dependency on MD approval. It ensures faster processing of refunds and avoids delays caused by non-encashment or returned cheques.
