The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) has established several new Indian Standards, which are effective from January 17, 2025. These standards cover a wide range of areas, including power transformers, sewing machine parts, primary batteries, textiles, distributed energy resources, and marine energy systems.

Key changes include:

1. New standards for Power Transformers, Needle Bar Links for Sewing Machines, and Primary Batteries have been introduced, replacing earlier versions, which will remain valid until July 17, 2025.
2. Standards for interconnection and interoperability of distributed energy resources, including test procedures and impact study guidelines, have been added.
3. Multiple parts under Marine Energy standards, covering wave, tidal, and water current converters, have been established, focusing on vocabulary, design requirements, mooring systems, ocean thermal energy conversion, and power performance assessment.

These updates align Indian Standards with global practices (e.g., IEC and IEEE) and ensure better regulation across the respective industries. Stakeholders must refer to the new standards for compliance, as the older versions will be withdrawn after the specified dates.
