Document Date: February 19, 2025

Applicable Act/Rule: Rajasthan Stamp Act, 1998 (Act No. 14 of 1999)

Applicable Section/Rule: sub-section (1) of section 9

The Rajasthan State Government has announced a stamp duty exemption on land transfer instruments allotted to landowners in exchange for acquired land. This exemption aims to ease the financial burden on original landowners; however, it does not apply to assignees or transferees. The initiative supports a smoother land acquisition process while ensuring benefits are directed to the rightful landowners.

The Finance Department, Government of Rajasthan, has issued a notification on February 19, 2025, granting a stamp duty exemption on the transfer of developed land allotted to khatedars (landowners) in exchange for acquired land. This applies to transfers executed by Government Departments, Government companies, corporations, societies, development authorities, municipalities, or urban improvement trusts established under Rajasthan State laws.
