Reduction of Stamp Duty on Joint Property Conveyance for Spouses

The Rajasthan Government has issued an order under Section 9(1) of the Rajasthan Stamp Act, 1998, reducing the stamp duty on property conveyance when the buyer is a married couple (husband and wife jointly). 

Key Points: 

  • Property Value Limit: The reduction applies only if the market value of the property does not exceed ₹50 lakh. 
  • New Stamp Duty Rate: The applicable stamp duty will now be 5.5% instead of the standard rate. 
  • Purpose: This move aims to promote joint property ownership among spouses and provide financial relief to homebuyers. 
  • Applicability: This order applies to all conveyance instruments executed in favour of both husband and wife jointly (not individually).
