Extension of Validity of FCRA Registration Certificates

Notification No.: F. No. II/21022/23(22)/2020-FCRA-III

Document Date: March 28, 2025

Applicable Act/Rule: Foreign Contribution (Regulation) Act, 2010

The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has extended the validity of FCRA registration certificates for specific categories of organisations to facilitate smooth operations.

The extension applies to:

  1. Entities whose FCRA validity was previously extended till March 31, 2025 (as per the Public Notice dated December 27, 2024) and whose renewal applications are still pending. Their validity now extends till June 30, 2025, or until the renewal application is disposed of, whichever is earlier.
  2. Entities whose five-year FCRA validity is expiring between April 1, 2025, and June 30, 2025, and have applied (or will apply) for renewal before expiry. Their validity is extended till June 30, 2025, or until the renewal application is processed, whichever is earlier.

Important Note:

  • If an FCRA renewal application is rejected, the organisation’s registration will be deemed expired on the date of rejection, and it will not be allowed to receive or utilise foreign contributions.
  • All concerned organisations must ensure compliance with this directive.
