The Ministry of Labour and Employment has notified the implementation of key provisions of the Employees’ State Insurance (ESI) Act, 1948, in 15 districts of Uttar Pradesh. Effective from April 1, 2025, the Act will now be applicable in the districts of Ambedkar Nagar, Auraiya, Bahraich, Gonda, Hamirpur, Jalaun, Kannauj, Maharajganj, Mahoba, Pilibhit, Siddharthnagar, Shamli, Pratapgarh, Kasganj, and Shravasti.
The following provisions of the ESI Act will come into force in these districts:
With this notification, businesses and employees in these districts will now be covered under the ESI scheme, ensuring social security benefits such as medical care, cash benefits during sickness and maternity, and protection in case of employment-related injuries. Employers must ensure compliance with the ESI Act from the effective date to avoid penalties and ensure seamless coverage for their workforce.
