Applicable Act/Rule – SEBI (Foreign Portfolio Investors) Regulations, 2019
Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) has amended the ‘Master Circular for Foreign Portfolio Investors, Designated Depository Participants, and Eligible Foreign Investors’ to raise the threshold for mandatory additional disclosures by Foreign Portfolio Investors (FPIs).
Previously, FPIs with an equity Assets Under Management (AUM) exceeding INR 25,000 crore were required to provide these disclosures. This threshold has now been increased to INR 50,000 crore. This change also applies to Offshore Derivative Instruments (ODIs) subscribers as per the SEBI circular dated December 17, 2024. The amendment affects specific sub-paragraphs in Parts C and D of the FPI Master Circular. The revised provisions are effective immediately.
