Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution has notified the Warehousing (Development and Regulation) Registration of Warehouses (Amendment) Rules, 2025.

The amendment reduces the response and approval timelines significantly for registration and renewal of warehouses as follows:

• Rule 11(2): The time period to make representations to the authority by applicant is reduced from fifteen working days to seven working days.
• Rule 12(1): The time limit to submit the security deposit in accordance with rule 19 is reduced from twenty-one working days to seven working days.
• Rule 12(2), proviso: If authority is satisfied that the applicant was prevented by sufficient cause from submitting the security deposit then the extended time is reduced from twenty-one to seven working days.
