Notification / Circular No. – F.No. II/21022/23(22)/2020-FCRA-II dated June 24, 2025
Applicable Act / Rule – Foreign Contribution (Regulation) Act, 2010
Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), through its earlier public notice dated March 28, 2025, had extended the validity of certain FCRA registration certificates up to June 30, 2025, for entities whose renewal applications were pending. In continuation of this, the Central Government has now further extended the validity for specific categories to prevent disruption in legitimate foreign contributions to eligible organisations.
MHA has extended the FCRA registration validity for two categories:
Pending Renewals from Previous Extension: For entities whose registration validity was extended till June 30, 2025, and whose renewal applications are still pending, the validity is now extended till September 30, 2025, or until the renewal application is disposed of, whichever is earlier.
Renewals Due Between July 1 and September 30, 2025: For entities whose five-year registration period expires between July 1 and September 30, 2025, and who apply for renewal before expiry, their registration will also be valid until September 30, 2025, or until the disposal of their renewal application, whichever is earlier.
Impact: The notice further clarifies that if the renewal application is rejected, the registration is considered expired from the date of rejection, and such entities will not be allowed to receive or utilise foreign contributions beyond that point.
