The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has issued a notification prohibiting the manufacture, sale, and distribution of Nimesulide and its formulations intended for animal use. This decision comes in light of the potential risks to animals associated with the use of Nimesulide and the availability of safer alternatives. The prohibition takes effect immediately, in accordance with Section 26A of the Drugs and Cosmetics Act, 1940, after consultation with the Drugs Technical Advisory Board.
