FSSAI emphasizes Inspections of High-Risk Food Establishments & Launch of FIRA Portal

FIRA Portal: 

  • The “Food Import Rejection Alert” (FIRA) portal was launched to inform exporters, importers, and other stakeholders about food consignments rejected by regulatory authorities. It explains why imported food items were rejected and helps businesses comply with food safety regulations. 
  • Discussions with Customs Officials: 
  • The CEO met with Customs officials in Chennai to discuss the clearance process for imported food items. He highlighted the need for training Customs officials on food safety rules to streamline and improve the import clearance process.

  • The FSSAI is stepping up efforts to ensure food safety in Tamil Nadu by increasing inspections and improving the quality of food testing. 
  • The FIRA portal will bring transparency to the food import process, helping businesses stay compliant.
