Bldg. & Other Constr. Workers’ (Reg. of Emp. & Cond. of Serv.) Karnataka (Amdt.) Rules, 2025

Applicable Section/Rule – Rule 44 and Rule 47

The Government of Karnataka has notified amendments to the Karnataka Rules framed under the Building and Other Construction Workers’ (Regulation of Employment and Conditions of Service) Act, 1996. These rules govern welfare, safety, and working conditions for construction workers registered under the Act.

The amended rules revise key monetary thresholds and clarify eligibility for compensation:

  1. Amendment of Rule 44 –

In rule 44, in sub-rule (1), for the words, letters, brackets and figures “Rs. 71,000/- (Rupees Seventy One Thousand only)” the words, letters, brackets and figures “Rs.1,46,000/- (Rupees One Lakh Forty Six Thousand only)” shall be substituted.

 

  1. Amendment of Rule 47 –

In rule 47, in sub rule (2) –

(1) for the words “The Nominee of a registered construction worker who meets with an accident resulting in his or her death”, the words “The registered construction worker who meets with an accident resulting in his or her death, the Nominee of such registered construction worker,” shall be substituted; and

(2) The following proviso shall be inserted at the end, namely:-

“Provided that, if a registered construction worker who meets with an accident at workplace resulting in his or death, the Nominee of such registered construction worker shall be entitled for a compensation of Rs.8.00 lakhs (Rupees Eight Lakhs only) from the Board.”
