FSSAI Mandates Display of 'Food Safety Connect' App QR Code at Food Premises

Notification/Circular No. – Press release dated August 01, 2025

Applicable Act/Rule – Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006; Food Safety and Standards (Licensing and Registration of Food Businesses) Regulations, 2011

Applicable Section/Rule – Condition No. 1

As per the press release, all FBOs including restaurants, cafes, dhabas, and similar establishments must display their FSSAI licence or registration certificate with the QR code of the ‘Food Safety Connect’ app in customer-accessible areas such as entrances, billing counters, or seating zones. This QR code is now pre-printed on the front page of the FSSAI certificate, allowing consumers to easily scan it to lodge complaints or access food safety-related information.

In addition, FBOs must also include the QR code or direct download link for the app on their digital interfaces like websites and food delivery platforms. The app serves as a direct channel for customers to raise food safety or hygiene issues and ensures quick redressal by routing complaints to the concerned jurisdictional authority. The directive is issued under the mandatory licence condition outlined in the 2011 Regulations.
