Suspension of SIONs pertaining to food products-reg.

Notification No./Circular No. – Public Notice No. 20/2025-26 dated August 26, 2025

Applicable Act/Rule – Foreign Trade (Development & Regulation) Act, 1992

The Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) periodically issues Standard Input Output Norms (SIONs) to standardise the quantity of inputs allowed for producing an export product under the Advance Authorisation scheme. These norms facilitate exporters in claiming duty-free import of raw materials. However, given evolving industry conditions, the government has decided to suspend specific SIONs related to food products.

Through this Public Notice, DGFT has suspended the SIONs listed in Annexure A with immediate effect. Exporters dealing in these food product categories will not be able to claim Advance Authorisation benefits under the suspended SIONs. Instead, they may apply for authorisation by following alternative provisions under Paragraph 4.03(b)(ii), 4.03(b)(iii), or 4.03(b)(iv) of FTP 2023, which allow for self-declared norms or norms ratification.
