Press Release No. 2192445 dated November 21, 2025
Applicable Act/Rule – Companies Act, 2013
SFIO, the investigative body for complex corporate frauds under the Companies Act, issues summons and notices during ongoing investigations. There have been increasing instances where individuals received fake or impersonated notices, creating a need for strict authenticity controls and verification mechanisms
SFIO has shifted to a fully digital system for issuing summons and notices, ensuring each document is generated electronically with a unique Document Identification Number (DIN) and a QR code.
Officers are now required to issue only digitally generated notices, except in very rare situations. Every recipient can verify the authenticity of any notice either by scanning the QR code printed on it or by validating the DIN through SFIO’s official online verification portal. These steps give immediate confirmation that the communication is genuine and prevent impersonation.
To further strengthen internal control, SFIO has also implemented a multi-level review framework to supervise and validate the issuance of all summons and notices, reducing the possibility of misuse or errors.
