The Legal Metrology (General) Rules, 2011 regulate standards, verification and compliance requirements relating to weights and measures under the Legal Metrology Act, 2009. The rules were previously amended on February 11, 2026. The Central Government has now issued the Legal Metrology (General) Third Amendment Rules, 2026 to further amend the 2011 rules.
Rule 2 provides that in the Legal Metrology (General) Rules, 2011, Rule 16, Rule 21 and Rule 21A shall be omitted.
