Bureau of Indian Standards Notification on Establishment of Indian Standards, 2026

The notification is issued by the Bureau of Indian Standards in pursuance of sub-rule (1) of rule 15 of the Bureau of Indian Standards Rules, 2018. It notifies the establishment of Indian Standards as specified in the schedule annexed to the notification.

The provisions apply to standards specified in the schedule, including those relating to cardiovascular surgery instruments, cable cleats, industrial cable reels, medical electrical equipment, and medical image display systems.

The notification specifies Indian Standards established along with their date of establishment and corresponding earlier standards to be withdrawn along with their withdrawal dates.

It provides that the standards specified in the fourth column shall remain in force concurrently until the date of their withdrawal as indicated in the fifth column.

The standards established include IS 8317:2026, IS 16783:2026, IS 17039:2026, IS 19771:2026, and IS/IEC 62563-1:2021.

The notification also specifies withdrawal of earlier standards including IS 8317:1991, IS 16783:2018, IS 17039:2018, and IS/IEC 62563-1:2016 with corresponding withdrawal dates.

“In pursuance of Sub-rule (1) of Rule (15) of the Bureau of Indian Standards Rules, 2018, the Bureau of Indian Standards hereby notifies that Indian standards, particulars of which are given in the second column of the schedule hereto annexed have been established on the date indicated against it in third column. The particulars of the standards, if any which are given in the fourth column shall also remain in force concurrently till they are withdrawn on the date indicated against them in the fifth column.”
