Extension of Relaxation for Use of Alternate Fuels in NCR

Notification/Circular No.: A-110013/09/2020/CAQM-IP dated April 15, 2026
Applicable Act/Rule: Commission for Air Quality Management in National Capital Region and Adjoining Areas Act, 2021
Effective Date: April 15, 2026

Commission for Air Quality Management in National Capital Region and Adjoining Areas issued this order in continuation of its earlier order dated March 13, 2026, which permitted temporary use of alternate fuels due to disruption in natural gas supply. The disruption, which commenced in early March 2026, continues as per communication from the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas. An advisory issued by the Central Pollution Control Board also extended permission for use of alternate fuels up to May 12, 2026.

The order extends the relaxation granted for use of alternate fuels such as High Speed Diesel (HSD), Biomass, and Refuse-Derived Fuel (RDF) pellets in place of natural gas by industries, hotels, restaurants, and other enterprises in the National Capital Region, including NCT of Delhi. In cases of limitation in availability of such fuels, use of coal or kerosene remains permitted. The relaxation is extended for a further period of one month, up to May 13, 2026, or until further orders, whichever is earlier, and applies to entities operating in the specified regions.
