Applicable Act/Rule: Promotion and Regulation of Online Gaming Act, 2025

The notification states that the Ministry of Information and Technology has notified the constitution of the Online Gaming Authority of India under the Promotion and Regulation of Online Gaming Act, 2025. It specifies that all provisions of the Act shall come into effect from May 1, 2026.
The Authority comprises officials from six ministries, namely Electronics and Information Technology, Home Affairs, Finance, Information and Broadcasting, Youth Affairs and Sports, and Law and Justice, serving on an ex-officio basis. It also specifies that cyber cells across state and union territory police forces are empowered to investigate offences under the Act. Police officers heading cyber cells and nodal cyber officers at police station, district, and commissionerate levels are authorised to investigate offences under the said Act.
