IS Notification on Establishment and Withdrawal of Indian Standards

Applicable Section/Rule: Rule 15(1)

In pursuance of Sub-rule (1) of Rule (15) of the Bureau of Indian Standards Rules, 2018, the Bureau of Indian Standards notifies that Indian Standards listed in the Schedule have been established on the dates indicated in the third column. The standards listed in the fourth column shall remain in force concurrently until they are withdrawn on the dates indicated in the fifth column.

The notification specifies establishment of new Indian Standards and corresponding withdrawal of existing standards, where applicable. The standards established are applicable to areas including three phase a.c. motors, lifts for transport of persons and goods, absorbent incontinence products, ENT surgery instruments, and environmental testing. The applicability extends to entities involved in manufacturing, testing, certification, and usage of such standards.

The following standards have been established:

  1. IS 12615 : 2026 — Line Operated Three Phase a.c. Motors (IE Code) Efficiency Classes and Performance — Specification (Fourth Revision), established on 21 April 2026.
    IS 12615 : 2018 — Line Operated Three Phase a.c. Motors (IE Code) “Efficiency Classes and Performance Specification” (Third Revision) shall be withdrawn on 21 October 2026.
  2. IS 17900 (Part 3/Sec 2) : 2026 — Lifts for the Transport of Persons and Goods, Part 3 Specifications for Planning and Selection, Section 2 Goods/Automobile Lift, established on 21 April 2026. No corresponding withdrawal.
  3. IS 19789 : 2026 / ISO 16021 : 2024 — Absorbent Incontinence Products for Urine and/or Faeces — Basic Principles for Evaluation of Single Use Adult Products from the Perspective of Users and Caregivers (First Revision), established on 21 April 2026.
    IS/ISO 16021 : 2000 — Urine-Absorbing Aids — Basic Principles for Evaluation of Single-Use Adult-Incontinence-Absorbing Aids from the Perspective of Users and Caregivers shall be withdrawn on 21 October 2026.
  4. IS 19791 : 2026 — ENT Surgery Instruments — Microdebrider — Specification, established on 21 April 2026. No corresponding withdrawal.
  5. IS/IEC 60068-2-11 : 2021 — Environmental Testing, Part 2 Tests, Section 11 Test Ka — Salt Mist, established on 21 April 2026. No corresponding withdrawal.
