Amendment in Import Policy Conditions for Items under Chapters 70, 73, 84, and 85 of ITC (HS) 2022

Effective Date: November 01, 2025

The Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT), under the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, has amended import policy conditions for certain items falling under Chapters 70, 73, 84, and 85 of ITC (HS) 2022.

The amendment introduces a new policy condition requiring importers of specific solar and wind energy equipment to mandatorily register on the REEIMS portal of the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy before import.

  • Applicable HS Codes include 70071900, 85414200, 85414300 (solar) and 73082019, 84833000, 84834000, 85016420, 85016430, 85023100, 85030090 (wind).
  • Registration must be completed 2 days in advance for air cargo and 5 days in advance for sea and land routes.
  • Each registration remains valid for 3 months and is free of cost.
  • The registration applies to a specific port but allows multiple consignments under one registration.
  • Importers must also declare the intended end-use of imported products on REEIMS.
  • Relevant import policy conditions have been revised in each affected chapter of ITC (HS) 2022 to include the new REEIMS requirement.
