Single Unified Multi-Purpose Electronic Bond in Customs

The Central Board of Indirect Taxes & Customs (CBIC) is launching the “Ekal Anubandh” initiative to streamline customs procedures and reduce the administrative burden on importers and exporters. This initiative introduces the Single All-India Multi-purpose Electronic Bond (SEB), replacing multiple transaction-wise bonds required at different ports.

Revision of Working Hours for Labourers to Prevent Sunstroke Due to Rising Temperatures in Kerala 

With the onset of summer in Kerala and a rapid increase in daytime temperatures, workers engaged in outdoor labour across various regions of the state are vulnerable to sunstroke. Considering public welfare and worker safety, the working hours of labourers employed in the state are restructured in accordance with Rules 24 and 25 of the Kerala Minimum Wages Rules, 1958. The new schedule will be applicable from February 11, 2025, to May 10, 2025 with the following revised conditions to be strictly followed by inspection officers.

 Automation of Refund Application and Processing in Customs 

To enhance efficiency, transparency, and reduce physical interface, CBIC has introduced an electronic system for filing and processing refund applications on the ICEGATE Portal. This replaces the manual process and aligns with the goal of full Customs digitization by mid-2026.

Launch of the RBIDATA Mobile App by RBI

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has introduced RBIDATA, a mobile app designed to provide macroeconomic and financial statistics related to the Indian economy in a user-friendly and visually engaging format.

Notification Regarding Amnesty Scheme, 2025 for Repealed Acts

The Rajasthan Finance Department has introduced the Amnesty Scheme 2025 for repealed Acts, offering relief on outstanding demands and disputed amounts for periods up to June 30, 2017. This scheme applies to all dealers or persons with pending liabilities under any repealed Act, excluding those related to the Rajasthan Value Added Tax Act, 2003 and the Central Sales Tax Act, 1956 for goods listed under Entry 54 of the State List (Seventh Schedule, Constitution of India).

Exemption of Stamp Duty on Land Transfer for Landowners

The Rajasthan State Government has announced a stamp duty exemption on land transfer instruments allotted to landowners in exchange for acquired land. This exemption aims to ease the financial burden on original landowners; however, it does not apply to assignees or transferees. The initiative supports a smoother land acquisition process while ensuring benefits are directed to the rightful landowners.

Clarification on GST Rates and classification of goods

The GST Council’s 55th meeting, held on December 21, 2024, in Jaisalmer, led to important clarifications on GST rates and classification of various goods. Based on the Council’s recommendations, the government has issued Circular No. 247/04/2025-GST to ensure uniformity in tax implementation.
