Notification/Circular No.: E-File No: PRO-11/1/2025 – E Office (E Comp No. 27450) dated October 08, 2025
Applicable Act/Rule: Goods and Services Tax (GST) Act, 2017
The Central Drugs Standard Control Organisation (CDSCO) under the Directorate General of Health Services has issued a communication to all State and UT Licensing Authorities regarding the implementation of a public awareness campaign. This follows the Government of India’s decision to rationalise and reduce GST rates on medicines, pharmaceuticals, and medical devices, effective from September 22, 2025.
The CDSCO has directed State and UT Licensing Authorities to create widespread awareness among the public, stakeholders, and industry participants about the revised GST rates. Authorities are required to display banners and posters in their offices and encourage manufacturers, wholesalers, and retailers to do the same through their associations. The awareness campaign is to continue for 100 days, highlighting the benefits of the GST rate reduction to consumers.
Licensing authorities are also instructed to compile photographs and evidence of the awareness activities undertaken and submit them to CDSCO headquarters. Social media hashtags, poster texts, and banner materials have been provided for coordinated dissemination across platforms
