Applicable Act/Rule – Plastic Waste Management Rules, 2016 – EPR Guidelines for Plastic Packaging
As per the EPR Guidelines, the original timelines for filing Annual Returns (AR) for FY 2024-25 were June 30, 2025 for registered Producers, Importers and Brand Owners (PIBOs), and April 30, 2025 for Plastic Waste Processors (PWPs). Vide CPCB notice dated November 13, 2025, this timeline for both PIBOs and PWPs was already extended up to November 30, 2025.
Through the latest notice dated December 23, 2025, CPCB has now further permitted PIBOs & PWPs who have not yet filed annual returns for FY 2024-25 to submit the same on or before January 31, 2026. Failure to meet this deadline may attract Environmental Compensation as per the Guidelines for Assessment of EC for violations of PWM Rules. Entities that have already filed for FY 2024-25 are not required to take any further action.
