FSSAI-CBIC SWIFT 2.0 Pilot Launch

Notification No. Press Release dated Nov 12, 2025

Applicable Act/Rule: Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006

FSSAI has integrated its Food Import Clearance System (FICS) with CBIC’s ICEGATE platform through the upgraded SWIFT 2.0 initiative. Previously integration existed under SWIFT 1.0; the new version is being piloted to streamline food-import clearance.

  • The SWIFT 2.0 portal now allows importers to obtain FSSAI NOC via the ICEGATE platform for consignments arriving at four pilot Import Cargo Depots: ICD Dadri (INDER6), ICD Star Track (INSTT6), ICD Albatross (INAPL6), and ICD Patparganj (INPPG6).
  • The upgrade aims to reduce human interface in the clearance process, thereby enhancing transparency, accelerating dwell time reduction for cargo, lowering overall cost of doing business, and aligning with “Digital India” and “Ease of Doing Business” agenda.
  • Following successful pilot operations, the system is set to be gradually expanded to all major food-import entry points across India.
