In continuation of the draft rules published on December 31, 2021, and after considering public objections and suggestions, the Government of Gujarat has now notified the final rules under the Occupational Safety, Health and Working Conditions Code, 2020.
These new rules come in supersession of six earlier state rules relating to factory operations, construction workers, motor transport workers, beedi and cigar workers, contract labour, and inter-state migrant workmen. The move consolidates diverse labour regulations under one uniform framework, aligning Gujarat’s labour laws with the new central labour code, and is expected to simplify compliance and promote better working conditions.
