Ministry of Labour and Employment notified Industrial Relations (Central) Rules, 2026, Code on Wages (Central) Rules, 2026, Social Security (Central) Rules, 2026 and Occupational Safety, Health and Working Conditions (Central) Rules, 2026 after consideration of objections and suggestions received on the draft rules published on December 30, 2025.

The notified rules supersede various existing central labour law rules framed under earlier legislations relating to wages, industrial disputes, standing orders, contract labour, migrant workers, mines, building and construction workers, employee compensation, gratuity, maternity benefit, equal remuneration, bonus payment and social security compliances.

Industrial Relations (Central) Rules, 2026 prescribe provisions relating to settlement agreements, conciliation proceedings, works committees, industrial tribunals, standing orders and dispute resolution procedures under the Industrial Relations Code, 2020.

Code on Wages (Central) Rules, 2026 prescribe provisions relating to wage fixation, floor wages, payment of wages, bonus, deductions, maintenance of registers, advisory boards and forms under the Code on Wages, 2019.

Occupational Safety, Health and Working Conditions (Central) Rules, 2026 provide provisions relating to registration of establishments, appointment letters, annual medical examination, notice of accidents and hazardous occurrences, contract labour compliances, working conditions, safety measures and electronic filings for covered establishments.

Social Security (Central) Rules, 2026 prescribe provisions relating to employee compensation, employee state insurance, provident fund, gratuity, maternity benefit, career centres, social security funds, electronic registration and maintenance of records under the Social Security Code, 2020.
