Repeal of Certain Labour Laws under Industrial Relations Code, 2020

Applicable Section / Rule: Section 104 read with Section 1(3)

The Industrial Relations Code, 2020 had earlier been brought into force from November 21, 2025 through a prior notification. Section 104 of the Code provides for repeal of certain existing labour legislations upon commencement of the Code. This notification partially modifies the earlier notification to clarify the repeal position of specified Acts from the date the Code came into force.

The Central Government hereby specifies that the provisions of the following Acts stood repealed with effect from November 21, 2025:

(a) the Trade Unions Act, 1926 (16 of 1926);
(b) the Industrial Employment (Standing Orders) Act, 1946 (20 of 1946); and
(c) the Industrial Disputes Act, 1947 (14 of 1947).
