The Employees’ State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) has launched a special scheme called SPREE to help employers and employees who missed registering under the ESI Act earlier. This scheme will run from 1st July to 31st December 2025. During this time, employers can register their companies or factories without worrying about penalties or having to pay past dues. They can choose the start date of their coverage (either the actual registration date or a date they declare). Similarly, employees registered during this period will also be covered from their registration date. Importantly, no action will be taken for any non-registration that happened before 1st July 2025. This is a one-time opportunity to become compliant with ESI rules without facing fines or legal issues. The goal is to make it easy for employers to come under the ESI system and provide social security benefits to more workers.
